Hypothetical Questions

If you tend to shut down opportunities for yourself instead of seeing them, hypothetical questions are a great trojan horse.

Your brain get’s tricked, and thinks “well if it’s hypothetical, then I guess I could be open to…”

Here’s one I’ve been asking on my podcast:

“Let’s say, hypothetically, I give you a phone call in 3 years...

And you tell me that you not only solved [this tough problem you're working on] but it went better than you ever imagined...

How did you do that?"

Example:

“Let’s say, hypothetically, I give you a phone call in 3 years...

You tell me that this year you made double the income you made last year...

Or

You tell me that this year you were having twice as much fun as last year...

I say, "Wow, that's amazing...How did you manage to do that?"

What do you tell me?
